Witnessing Usher skating in full speed while singing and circling completely around me was a surreal moment. There were ballads, fast derby style songs, and even legendary Atlanta music. What I wasn’t prepared for was the song selection he chose to skate to. Ok so this is where my excitement kicks in!! If you’ve seen any videos of the show on Instagram, you probably know Usher skates during a portion of the show. Although I don’t think there were really any “bad “seats to this show, I do think the GA pit area provided the most fun and unique experience. I’ve never experienced being in a pit/ enclosed standing room only area during a show but would best describe the setup by saying imagine a skating rink with an audience in center. One of the caveats to being in this area was that once you were inside of the oval, you were pretty much forced to stay inside since it had to be closed for the performers to be able to fully access the stage. These tickets placed you in the center of the oval with Usher basically moving around you throughout the show. I reluctantly chose the General Admission Standing Room Only tickets. ![]() When I first heard this show was set up in an oval shape, I was a little concerned as to the best place to sit. Let me start this portion by saying I have seen some funky stage setups. And if you were wondering, YES THE MAN CAN SANG LIVE! Number 3-The Unique Setup of the Stage Partial View of Usher’s Vegas Residency I have never attended a concert and left feeling as though I was actually able to hear the artist’s voice as well as I did after this show. I was literally able to hear his foot hit the stage during the performance. I’m not sure how Dolby accomplished it, but the music, and more importantly, Usher’s voice was crisp and clear. If you’ve ever attended a show and left with ringing ears, you know exactly what I mean. When attending a show, I love to be as close to the stage as possible however, more recently, I’ve resorted to being seated further away due to the loudness of the speakers near the stage. I loved how there were multiple “leading ladies” at different points during the show and how most of them could not only dance, but skate! At one point, their attire changed from sophisticated suits and dresses to strip club wear (this was my favorite part of the show BTW). Not only did Usher have about 4 outfit changes, but the dancers changed as well. Speaking of attire.I have to discuss the dancers. Their attire reminded me of the suits you see in the roaring 20s films and gave a jazz/ New Orleans feel. At some points, I found myself lost in a trance watching them instead of Usher lol. The show featured a live band that not only played each song to perfection, but that danced, moved, and engaged with Usher the entire show. If you thought Usher would be the only star of the show, think again. I want to begin by saying this was THE BEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER ATTENDED! Every aspect of the show was meticulously planned to provide the ultimate experience. Upon learning he was returning to Vegas at Park MGM, I kicked my planning into gear. ![]() Despite my efforts to attend last year, I was unable to make it happen due to fear surrounding covid restrictions. My Way is Usher’s follow up residency to last year’s 20 show stint at Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace. I had the privilege of attending Usher’s 3 rd show for Usher: The Vegas Residency on Wednesday, July 20 th at Dolby Theater and will be sharing my thoughts and opinion on the show and whether I think it’s worth seeing.
